One of the nice things about living at Stonegates is the remarkable variety of interesting places just outside our gated community. Security staff is on duty 24 hours a day to provide visitor screening and other safety-related services.

Our location is a refreshing blend of city and country. Stonegates is uniquely positioned in the very heart of the Brandywine Valley, only minutes away from downtown Wilmington, near area galleries and boutiques. Our cultural heritage is rich with local history and the art of the Brandywine Valley. Area attractions include: Longwood Gardens, Winterthur Museum and Gardens, The Brandywine River Museum, Hagley Museum, The Grand Opera House, and the DuPont Theater, all just minutes away from Stonegates. New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, DC, are easily accessed via car or train.

The Manor House

In our Manor House you’ll find a variety of places to keep your mind and social life active. Residents can take advantage of our formal living room with fireplace, adjoining an extensive library and cocktail lounge. Here you can enjoy a good book or chat with visitors and friends.

Located in the Manor House are areas of “special interest” such as our beauty and barber salon, greenhouses, a computer room, an arts and crafts studio, game room and our administrative offices. The Manor House also houses our main dining room, as well as two smaller dining rooms for private parties or more intimate celebrations.

The Westfield House

The Westfield House condominium apartments range from studio to one and two bedroom designs. All apartments have adjacent patios or balconies.

The Westfield House is centered on a charming court yard.

Two Bedroom Cottages

Two and three bedroom cottages are clustered in landscaped cul-de-sacs. Each cottage has it's own private terrace and fully equipped kitchen.

A medical alert system in each bedroom and bathroom links every cottage to our Health Center, in case of an emergency.

Most cottages have garages, and more than half have 14' x 18' sunrooms additional.

Three bedroom cottages

Three bedroom cottages have private terrace, ample closet space in addition to a large attic, and a garage.

Health Center

Our Health Center provides exceptional quality of care and incomparable programs.

This fully equipped, 49-bed, Medicare-certified Health Center offers primary care nursing in a safe and secure environment, with a higher professional staff-to-patient ratio. Structured activities provide socialization in a home like setting. In addition, our Health Center offers customized care in a soothing, positive environment for people with Alzheimer’s disease and related memory-impaired disorders. Spacious single and two room suites, private and semi-private rooms are available.

The Department of Internal Medicine of Christiana Care for Delaware provides our Medical Director services. Professional nursing staff is on duty around the clock.

Dining

At Stonegates we don’t just “eat”, we “dine” — on marvelous dishes that our very own Chef creates exclusively for our residents.

It doesn't matter whether your favorite food is wonderfully seasoned chicken, a thick juicy steak, or something delightful from the sea, we’re sure to have an offering to excite your taste buds! Our culinary team offers a brilliant variety of mouth-watering dishes every single day of the week. Our Executive Chef’s culinary staff assures that the menu selection, preparation and presentation are of the highest quality, and are everything you would expect from a five star restaurant.

Lunch is served daily from 12 noon until 1:30 P.M. with a choice of five entrees. For your evening meal, you may choose to eat in the elegant main dining room or in our casual dining room, which is more intimate but also offers the same standard of decor and menu selection.

Dinner is served any time between 6:00 P.M. and 7:30 P.M. in the main dining room, and is served at 5:30 P.M. in the casual room. Full bar and cocktail service is available every evening excluding Sunday.
