Residential Living

Our cottages consist of single-family homes, duplexes and Wesley View, a multiplex building. These charming homes feature the most space - most have full gardens or outdoor patios as well as covered parking. Residents in the cottages are free from the maintenance of their home and lawn but still enjoy cooking, gardening and entertaining.

Pets under 25 pounds are welcome in the cottages.

Gardens Apartments / Terrace Apartments

The more intimate, informal Gardens building and the elegant, stately Terrace building give you a delightful choice of apartment living. Both offer several apartment sizes, views and floor plans complete with kitchenettes and balconies. Resident garden plots and rose gardens are nearby for everyone's enjoyment.

Beauty Salon Each building has an auditorium, which frequently plays host to special events such as talent nights, musical entertainment and guest speakers. For pampering and fitness, there are whirlpool spas, exercise rooms, gift shops, beauty salons and snack bars. Each building offers a computer center, central reception and storage facilities. And there's plenty of space to park your car or RV on campus.

Beautifully appointed lounges in the lobby and on each floor give you plenty of opportunity to mingle and share news.

With our optional meal plan, you'll enjoy two or three meals each day in the dining rooms, although each floor offers community kitchens for cooking and baking, snacks or entertaining.

Assisted Living

Assisted Living at Wesley Homes is designed to give you help with daily activities. Whether it is bathing, dressing or remembering your medications, the extra personal care keeps you independent.

On the second floor of The Terrace the assisted living wing has private apartments, its own dining room, social areas and 24-hour access to staff

Assisted Living is part of the continuum of care at Wesley Homes Des Moines.

When you need some extra attention, help is always available. For example, your assisted living staff can arrange for minor medical assistance such as monitoring glucose levels or therapeutic diets.

Opportunities for activities, special events and outings abound. As a resident of Wesley Homes Des Moines you have first choice for Assisted Living, should you need it.

Skilled Nursing

Wesley Homes Health Center is a 148-bed Skilled Nursing Facility certified under the Medicare and Medicaid programs. RNs, LPNs and Nursing Assistants provide loving and gentle care 24-hours a day, under the supervision of the resident's physician. Each resident is treated with dignity and respect in our safe, comfortable and pleasant environment - a home where families are welcome to visit any time. Our non-smoking facility offers semi-private rooms as well as some private rooms for residents with special needs.

Special care for dementia

Garden Court is our Special Care Unit for residents who need a secure environment. Staff members are specially trained to meet the personal care and activity needs of these residents. The Special Care Unit features its own dining and activity rooms as well as large indoor and outdoor walking areas for residents to enjoy.

A variety of services

Our restorative therapy department assists residents in carrying out physical, occupational and speech therapy programs. Once a month a dental hygienist, a podiatrist and an optometrist provide services in the Health Center. X-ray, ultrasound, pharmacy, and laboratory services are also available. Residents may wish to use our beauty salon, laundry services, cable TV, computer/email access, and private telephones. Our chaplain and social services staff are available to provide assistance as needed.

Dining

We know the importance of quality meals and a healthy diet, so our facility serves three appetizing, nutritiously balanced meals daily. Our dietitian can accommodate any special diets ordered by a resident's physician. Residents may enjoy their meals in one of our three dining rooms. Tasty, nourishing snacks are provided between meals.

Activities

A wide range of activities is offered with the varying interests and abilities of our residents in mind. Regular morning events include juice and news, coffee hour and exercise class. Weekly interest groups focus on music, cooking, gardening, arts and crafts, and reminiscing. Our Health Center bus, equipped with a wheelchair lift, regularly takes residents on a variety of trips. Favorites include lunch at local restaurants, mall and movie trips, and special outings to fairs and museums.
