Village at Wesley Manor
Serves its residents and families with a dedicated and professional staff in a nurturing Christian environment.
About Us
These powerful words from John Wesley’s Code of Conduct form a clear directive for us to put our faith into action! Wesley Manor’s straightforward mission statement also echoes these Wesleyan values based on Christian principles and stewardship:
“Wesley Manor’s mission, as a full continuum of care retirement community, is to serve its residents and families with a dedicated and professional staff in a nurturing Christian environment.”
A Loving Legacy...
Since 1963, our goal has always been to reflect the love and care of Christ and to enrich our residents’ lives by nurturing them physically, emotionally, socially and spiritually without regard to race, religious preference or profit.
In fact, it is our desire to “do all the good we can” for our seniors – with a focus on financial stability rather than profit – that sets Wesley Manor apart from many other retirement communities and nursing facilities. We firmly believe that what we do each minute of every day makes a difference in the lives of those whom we serve.
A Vision of Stewardship and Service...
The dream of Wesley Manor began in 1914 in the heart of a woman who was ahead of her time. Mrs. Elizabeth Nettelton, a Louisville milliner who was concerned about the plight of “the elderly,” left an unexpected bequest to the Old Louisville Methodist Conference, but her gift was placed in trust for forty-seven years by the Conference because her idea was thought to be “impractical.”
Then in 1958 Mr. And Mrs. C.M. Walts presented over thirty acres of beautiful rolling land in southern Jefferson County to the Old Louisville Methodist Conference for the express purpose of building a state-of-the-art Methodist retirement community.
Finally! Wesley Manor opened its doors in January 1963.
A Commitment to Innovation and Education...
Wesley Manor has been an innovator in long term care, and opened the first licensed Alzheimer’s facility in our area. Alzheimer’s and dementia support is a specialty niche service area for us.
Wesley Manor is also a community resource for information and answers on many questions surrounding the aging process. Churches, civic groups, health care providers, schools and publications often invite Wesley Manor to provide specialized programs and articles on a variety of topics related to retirement and aging.
Through nearly 50 years, Wesley Manor has survived and thrived because we have evolved to meet the ever-shifting needs and desires of our clients. We have learned through experience that successful senior service organizations have one thing in common: their commitment to quality care.
Therefore, above all, Wesley Manor strives to deliver incomparable service to residents in every area of our community.
Assisted Living
The Hoskinson House Assisted Living Center provides three distinct levels of assisted living services: Advantage , Plus , and Signature Care . We offer clients views of green space, trees and walking paths that delight the eye. Our Assisted Living Center's studio and one-bedroom accommodations are designed for efficiency and convenience, yet spacious enough for your most cherished possessions.
Of course, there are some things you'll have to give up... like mowing the lawn, raking leaves, preparing meals, cleaning the house, grocery shopping, and a host of other chores. The good news is that at Hoskinson House Assisted Living Center, it's all done for you!
Our clients often say that our complete dining program, housekeeping, linen service, and transportation make daily living so carefree that they feel as if they are "on vacation." Our activities program gives clients the opportunity to enjoy educational and enrichment programs and activities, both on and off campus. A 24-hour emergency response system is provided to all clients of Hoskinson House Assisted Living Center. The support of physicians, podiatrists, and other specialists is available periodically for checkups and consultation.
Alzheimer's/Dementia
Because we know that residents who suffer memory loss require the most specialized care, often including health care services, we have taken the initiative to have our Memory Care Center licensed as a health care “Personal Care” facility. For our Memory Care Center residents and their families, the benefits of licensing are many and translate into an experienced, specially trained staff of licensed nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants (“CNAs”) and caregivers. These very special professionals are personally involved in the day-to-day activities of each of our Memory Care Center residents. Therefore, we offer comfort and peace of mind to residents and their families that few other Alzheimer’s/Dementia facilities can give.
Our Memory Care Center is secured with a numbered code, so families and friends are free to visit at-will, but residents are safe and secure in a restraint-free environment. Because we want our residents to experience a sense of freedom, we also provide a beautifully landscaped and enclosed Memory Garden, just off our “front porch” that is complete with rockers. This allows them an opportunity to spend time out-of-doors when the weather permits and provides beautiful views in every season. We offer our residents' regular activities and outings that are specialized and appropriate for specific needs and interests, because routine and structure are important to those with short-term memory loss.
Our licensed nursing staff in the Memory Care Center oversees all medication management and administration. They also provide cueing and assistance, if needed, for dressing, bathing, personal hygiene, continency management, and morning and bedtime routines. Housekeeping is provided daily and personal laundry services are available at no additional charge.
