Seniors Helping Seniors
...a way to give and to receive
About Us
Sharon Mayfield, owner and operator of Seniors Helping Senior in-home services comes to this field of caregiving with over 25 years experience as a registered nurse. As a nurse, Sharon has worked in home care, hospice, nursing home and assisted living. An active church member, mother and grandmother of two, Sharon has a heart filled with compassion and is dedicated to aiding seniors live the most fulfilled life as possible.
Prior to joining the Seniors Helping Seniors family, Sharon was the owner and operator of the only Catholic Assisted Living facility in Charlotte, NC. She has dedicated a lot of time and personal passion towards working with the elderly population and hopes to make an even larger impact with Seniors Helping Seniors in-home services.
“I know how difficult it is to find help that you would trust in your own home and for the many different aspects of life. When families came to inquire about assisted living, it was usually an alternative that they did not want to choose. We offer a different alternative. We can help with the many small things that make a significant difference. Small things, like having a friend over to visit and looking forward to that day. Having someone to change the sheets on the bed and help with the laundry and vacuum. All of this allows a daughter to continue to be a daughter,” says Sharon.
Sharon in committed to providing quality care for seniors in need of services as well as to reaching out to seniors who can provide services. She knows how important it is to feel like one is having impact and how critical it is to stay independent. Both factors are in play when working with senior care providers and receivers.
Sharon meets personally with providers twice, and checks their references. She insures that the seniors who work with her have been successful in their lives and exhibit caring and compassion for their peers as they look for an opportunity to serve. Each Receiver is matched personally with a Provider so that they are able to develop a relationship that will benefit both of them.
"Our Providers will do whatever it takes to help each senior function as independently as possible. Sometimes that means even caring for their pet!” says Sharon.

Our senior providers are especially helpful after a fall or injury, when your parent may need someone to do the bending, reaching and a little lifting so that you parent doesn’t overdo it during recovery.
We know that sometimes it’s hard to take that first step because of you or because of the person you love. Either way, we are here to help you. We know that for the right people being a senior helping other seniors is really a very rewarding position... a way to give and to receive.
Work as much or as little as you want.
We are always looking for loving, giving, caring, compassionate people to work with our seniors. Each of our helpers works as many hours a week as he or she wants.
Supplement your income.
Most of the people who work with us were looking for volunteer jobs, seeking activities that would add meaning to their lives. Working as a senior helping other seniors means you will be making an important contribution. It also provides you with an hourly wage that can help cover the extras.
No experience necessary. But lots of heart required.
We’d like to talk to you if you can offer companionship or a particular service. Many of our seniors who help out are recently retired or on a reduced work schedule and have never done anything like this before. But they all come to the work full of heart and caring.
