Experience...The Difference!
About Us
Do you know what people say about Parkway Rehabilitation and Nursing Center? They say we are different and have that special something. With more than 350 employees, Parkway is a spirited, refreshing and energizing community. Our staff is trained to combine their knowledge and skills
with gentleness and warmth as we care for subacute rehabilitation patients as well as our elder population. Parkway is the road to health, home and healing.
We are a Louisville original!
Parkway Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is locally owned and operated. We are not part of a corporation and have been under the same administration for over 25 years. Joe Okruhlica has built a reliable, stable staff. The 35 individuals in core leadership positions have over 500 years of combined experience at Parkway. This continuity makes a difference and is why we have a long history of excellent state surveys and reputation. The key to our success is based on employee stability.
Our experience is what makes us different.
In addition to the core leadership staff, fifty percent of our Care Partners have been a part of Parkway for more than five years. One hundred and fifty nurses’ aides are on staff and the average nurse’s aide has been at Parkway for 3 ½ years. In a world of constant job changes, these averages are extremely unusual. Believe us…this experience makes all the difference when it comes to delivering dynamic care.
Parkway is licensed by the Commonwealth of Kentucky and by the State Department for Human Resources. We provide both subacute rehabilitation as well as skilled and basic nursing care. The facility is also certified to participate in Kentucky Medicaid and federal Medicare programs. We also accept private insurance.
Rehabilitation
Rehabilitation is our specialty and has been for over 30 years. We treat orthopedic, neurological and cardiovascular patients of all ages. Our rehabilitation patients’ plan of care is under the direct supervision of a physiatrist, a physician who specializes in rehabilitation. The physiatrist works with each patient’s individual physician and therapists to optimize your experience and recovery.
Parkway’s rehabilitation department is staffed with full-time in-house speech, occupational and physical therapists. Ask your doctor why that makes such a difference. Parkway employs six full-time therapists, six rehabilitation assistants, and five therapy support staff. This remarkably high number of therapy staff reflects Parkway’s commitment to getting you home. Our entire rehabilitation staff is on site and on duty all day allowing the patient to have as much physical, occupational and speech therapy as he or she needs.
Providing rehabilitation services for over 30 years. Experience IS the Difference…
Parkway’s rehabilitation center occupies the entire 2nd floor, giving rehabilitation patients a place of their own. Both private and semi-private rooms are available. Each room has flat screen cable television with pillow speakers, telephone, and thermostatically controlled heating and air conditioning. Your comfort will enhance your healing. Internet is available in the center for your convenience and enjoyment. Our staff is available to arrange a massage, manicure, special dining experience, and library or movie rentals; they are there to assist you with special needs so that your stay will be enjoyable as well as therapeutic.
Journey to Healing, Health, and Home
Our success in getting patients home reflects our expertise and skills in combining therapy goals with patient goals. As discharge approaches, we often schedule home visits with our patients and their families to assure all is ready for a smooth transition. Most of our rehabilitation patients return home quickly. It is our dedication, commitment and experience that make this possible. We have been providing rehabilitation for over 30 years; we know what we are doing. You will experience the difference!
