Mount Royal Towers Retirement Community has a full continuum of health care on site, including Retirement or Independent Living, Independent Plus, Assisted Living, Vintage Club – Specialized Assisted Living, Skilled Nursing Care, ActivCare Residential Alzheimer’s Care, and Royal Club. Mount Royal Towers is a community within itself, with a Physicians clinic on-site, Harbin Pharmacy, a barber/beauty shop, Regions bank, convenience store, postal service, library, furnished lounges, private dining room, sun terrace and recreational facilities. Mount Royal’s convenient location in Vestavia Hills offers easy access to shopping malls, churches, restaurants and grocery stores, as well to activities in the community.

Independent Living / Retirement Living

Mount Royal Towers strives to provide a comfortable residential environment that features secure living, the opportunity to meet new friends, and the time to enjoy the interests that are important to a healthy and active lifestyle.

Independent or Retirement Living offers seniors the opportunity to live in comfortable and secure surroundings while enjoying the freedom of an independent lifestyle. Our all-inclusive monthly rental fees include restaurant-style dining, transportation, housekeeping and linen services, in-house activity programs, activity rooms and lounges, paid utilities, and 24-hour emergency call systems.

Independent Plus

Independent Living Plus is an innovation in retirement living. Independent Living Plus offers the most carefree lifestyle available at Mount Royal Towers. Our residents enjoy a host of amenities designed to make life easier, as well as selected personal care services to help them meet increased daily needs.

Independent Living at Mount Royal Towers features a host of amenities and services that allow each resident the freedom and comfort to enjoy an active, healthy lifestyle.

Assisted Living

The Assisted Living Program at Mount Royal Towers offers residents all the conveniences and comfort of the Independent Living Program with the added security of 24-hour assistance and supervision.

Assisted Living provides care for seniors who need daily assistance, but do not require the intensive level of care offered in a skilled nursing facility.

Assisted Living includes a helping hand with day-to-day tasks, including dressing, bathing, personal grooming, dining and medication monitoring.

Assisted Living provides a special combination of residential housing, personalized supportive services and care, while maintaining the dignity of residential living.

ActiveCare - Residential Alzheimer’s Care

The ActiveCare - Residential Alzheimer’s Care program at Mount Royal Towers is specially designed to adapt to the unique needs of people who have Alzheimer's disease or other related dementia. The programs are therapeutic in nature and address the physical, mental, psychological and spiritual needs of each individual. The resident's individuality, dignity, and self-esteem are maintained while strengths and abilities are maximized.

The program has flexibility to adapt to each resident needs. For example, a resident who may be up during the night will require more sleep in the morning. Special activities and snacks in the evening hours will be provided to allow the resident to sleep longer in the morning.

The ActivCare program uses therapeutic activity programming to focus on each individual resident's day-today activities. The activities are adult-oriented with assorted topics and themes utilizing reminiscence skills. A daily 24-hour activity schedule may include: exercise, nature walks, arts and crafts, hobbies and activities of daily living. Although there us flexibility for individual participation and they are free to follow their own agenda, residents are encouraged to take part in the organized activities. These carefully planned activities are instrumental in minimizing the restlessness typical to those with Alzheimer's disease and related dementia.

ActivCare Residential Alzheimer’s Care provides a secure environment with freedom of movement within the unit, as well as outdoors. Resident's individual rooms are decorated with personal items and furniture to ensure a home-like quality. Large living rooms allow for multiple spaces where the activity programs meet the resident's individual preferences. Wide doorways and corridors provide easy access and encourage social interaction.

The ActivCare program is designed to help residents maintain a high level of self-esteem and dignity through activities and a secure, home-like setting and provides a safe, secure setting for the Alzheimer's resident who does not yet require skilled nursing care.
