Middle Georgia RC/Area Agency on Aging
Area Agency on Aging (AAA) is the division of The Middle Georgia Regional Commission responsible for coordinating the overall planning and development of a comprehensive service system for the elderly of Middle Georgia.
As the state designated Area Agency on Aging (AAA), the Middle Georgia Regional Commission is responsible for coordinating the overall planning, administration and development of a comprehensive service system for the elderly of Middle Georgia. Over $12 million in funding is managed by the AAA that is provided through the Older Americans Act and the Community Care and Services for the Elderly Act. The MGRC administers the Community Care Services Program, a Medicaid Waiver, which is a cost savings to the State of over $13,000 per each client. Finally, the MGRC serves as the "Gateway" (single point of entry for information about services and access to services) to community resources.
The Community Care Services Program, a Medicaid funded program, provides in-home services to older adults at risk of nursing home placement. Services include personal care, light housekeeping, meal preparation, respite care, emergency response systems, and/or 24-hour supervision. Contact the Gateway, 478-751-6466.
"Gateway," the AAA's single point of entry, provides a "one call connection" to aging and disability resources. Skilled intake and screening specialists conduct screenings for programs and services offered in the 11 counties of the Middle Georgia service area. Eligible clients are placed on a waiting list until funding levels permit entry into service. Call 478-751-6466 for service.
