Memory Care
McLean offers several levels of security and support including two secure neighborhoods. We focus on the abilities and possibilities of each resident, not on what has been lost, creating a supportive environment for both the resident and their family and friends. We encourage residents to experience sensory, physical and mental stimulation daily.
Experiencing nature is one of the best ways to stimulate and connect with patients, even those with advanced dementia. McLean is so fortunate to have nature every way we turn. The original architects had a goal to bring the outside into the Home. Rooms have large windows, private terraces or patios. The 120-acre campus has many walking trails where residents and their visitors enjoy nature in almost any season. Secluded gardens, a rooftop garden and a gazebo welcome residents to enjoy the day in shade or sun, protected from the winds.
The Sorenson Technology Center opens up the world. Specialized technology for brain fitness challenges the healthy resident to the resident with advanced dementia. Volunteers add more personal touches from manicures, to help with technology, to a walk in the garden, to help to attend religious services in our chapel. Residents, who are memory challenged come alive with music, smile and sing along. Many families plan their visits around these performances. Check the news section for a calendar of activities.
