Lake Norman Home Health
As the optimum environment for living, working and playing.
History of Lake Norman Regional Medical Center
Originally known as Lowrance Hospital, Lake Norman Regional Medical Center built a foundation for community care in 1926. S.A. Lowrance donated land, and citizens of Mooresville purchased stock in it for $25 a share. The organization soon became a non-profit corporation, opened a new four-story hospital in 1930, and expanded twice more in the 1950s and 1970s.
In 1986, Health Management Associates, Inc. purchased the hospital and the name was changed to better reflect the hospital's commitment to the entire Lake Norman region. A few years later, a new $41 million replacement hospital and medical campus was built on 30 acres just off I-77 at Exit 33. In 2007, Lake Norman Regional earned Magnet recognition status for excellence in nursing and patient care by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
