Kindred Transitional Care & Rehabilitation - Harrison
Our wide array of services enables our patients and residents to receive the medical care they need, the restorative therapy they require, and the support they and their families deserve.
Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation - Harrison is located in the historic town of Corydon, Indiana (the first state capital of Indiana), and is not your typical nursing and rehabilitation center. It is a place where independence is encouraged and success is expected.
No expense has been spared in designing the ultimate healthcare environment for patients, residents and our staff. The layout is clean and efficient, allowing easy access to the dining room, rehabilitation rooms, lawns, patios and other living areas.
Our center has won awards in annual family satisfaction surveys consecutively since 2007. In 2009, we received My InnerView’s Excellence in Action award in both customer and employee satisfaction categories, something very few centers accomplish.
The little things make living at our center such a positive experience. For example, a special "Table for Two" is offered for the spouse of any patient joining us for a meal. Companionship at mealtime is important, so this program was designed so spouses would enjoy joining their loved ones during mealtime.
When patients leave the hospital, they often need continued care to recover completely. That’s where we come in. We work with you to set a care plan to meet your goals and abilities. Patients typically receive up to three hours of intensive rehabilitation each day, provided by our specially trained interdisciplinary team consisting of:
- consulting physician specialists
- nurses
- rehabilitation therapists
- respiratory and speech therapists
- social workers
- registered dietitians
Long-term care is when a person requires assistance with his or her physical or emotional needs over an extended period of time. The need might be due to a terminal condition, disability, illness, injury or the infirmity of old age. The need for long-term care may only last for a few weeks or months, or it may go on for years. We provide the services and supplies that your family member needs while he or she is a resident at our center. This help may be required for many of the activities or needs of daily living, including:
-
walking
- bathing
- dressing
- using the bathroom
- managing pain
- preventing unsafe behavior
- preventing wandering
- assistance with eating
- personal hygiene and grooming
- administering medications
Our Expertise
Specialized programming and care approaches are designed to create personal successes for each resident, helping the resident to experience positive emotions. The therapeutic environment is supportive rather than curative.
Our Staff
Our staff is trained in clinical care and is well-versed in the recent advances in dementia and Alzheimer’s. In addition, they:
- participate in ongoing in-service training
- communicate with an emphasis on understanding non-verbal behavior
- intervene creatively when it comes to behavior problems
- focus on what residents can do instead of what they cannot do
