Hospice Services of Massachusetts
Hospice Services of Massachusetts strives to enable dying persons and those close to them to gain comfort and control over their lives, while neither hastening nor postponing death.
Hospice care focuses on helping people and those that love them, to live as fully as possible until they die. Hospice celebrates the life of the individual and assists patients and families during this time by providing quality, compassionate care. Hospice Services of Massachusetts staff can pay attention to the details, thus permitting patients and loved ones to pay attention to one another and to living.
Hospice care is patient centered and patient directed. It is one of the best examples in health care of collaboration by an interdisciplinary team dedicated to meeting the needs of the patient and family. In consultation with the patient, his or her loved ones, primary caregiver, and the patient’s own physician, the hospice team prepares an individual plan of care based on patient and family needs and goals. Direct care is provided by the primary caregiver, if available, and augmented by the hospice team. Care is provided wherever the patient calls home.

Grief services are a vital element of Hospice care for families. Before, during, and after the loved one’s death, hospice grief services can be an important support to assist patients, families, and all the survivors of an individual patient.
