About Us

Guardian Angels offers high-quality housing opportunities and programs that reflect an environment of compassion, dignity and respect for our seniors.

Serving approximately 1,200 senior Minnesotans each year, Guardian Angels welcomes residents from a variety of economic conditions and backgrounds. While 20 percent of our clients pay for services out-of-pocket, the remaining 80 percent benefit from various government programs and insurance.

Guardian Angels’ programs and living environments are located in Elk River, with additional housing units in Zimmerman and Becker. Guardian Angels’ Elim Home Care program serves clients throughout our area. Many of those we serve come from surrounding counties or move here to be closer to adult children or other family members. We believe strongly that all seniors deserve access to the most compassionate and dignified care possible, and we provide it through our properties, programs and services.

History, Mission and Services

Guardian Angels is a comprehensive senior care organization serving seniors in the northwestern corner of the Twin Cities regardless of their religious affiliation or economic status. We were founded in 1962 with a mission to share Christ’s love by serving seniors through health care, housing and support services. Today, Guardian Angels is comprised of six related non-profit corporations, all sharing the same vision and governed by a 15-member volunteer board of directors.

Assisted Living

Set on the shores of beautiful Lake Orono, Guardian Angels continues its tradition of caring for the lives of seniors with Guardian Angels By The Lake. Here, residents find an enriching lifestyle and exceptional amenities as part of the reassurance of assisted living and memory care.  Home Care services available assist residents to remain as healthy and independent as possible.

Our 60 unit building includes 47 apartments for assisted living and 13 memory care suites.  The community itself is so beautiful – spacious one and two-bedroom apartments feature kitchenettes and private bathrooms.  Natural lighting throughout the building enhances the roomy apartments, wide hallways, coffee shop, dining room, beauty and barber shop, gardens and common areas.

Residents and families enjoy home-cooked, restaurant-style meals in our lovely dining room.  Two  delicious daily meals are offered each day along with the option of a third meal. Our activities staff engage residents with social, recreational, educational and spiritual programs to meet an  array of interests. Daily exercise classes, chapel, holiday and birthday celebrations, musical performances and outings are just a sample of the ways our residents stay involved.

Assisted Living Home Care

Guardian Angels by the Lake offers residents gracious assisted living through personalized supportive services ans health care 24 hours per day.  Full spectrum of assisted living services are available and individually tailored.  With the help of assessment from our Registered Nurse, we can determine the assistance you require.

Nursing, RN, and LPN's are on site 40 hours/week and on call. Each resident receives a Lifeline emergency pendent should they ever need to call for assistance.  Resident reassurance checks are performed three times daily.  Some additional services we offer include:
