Crossroads Hospice
Expect more from us. We do.
Expect more from us. We do.
Why not? That’s a question we ask ourselves every day. In fact it is the question responsible for our beginning and has made us what we are today. Because “why not?” helps us find new and better ways to deliver hospice care to patients, families, caregivers, and health care professionals alike. It helps us connect with our communities, share our knowledge, be accessible 24/7, innovate, lead, and raise the bar. In fact “why not?” has helped us create a hospice experience we believe is second to none…and are confident you’ll agree.
We do more to support patients, families and professionals.
The primary focus of hospice care is quality of life through comfort, dignity and understanding. It encompasses the physical, psychological and spiritual needs of terminally ill patients, while supporting the well-being of caregivers. Whether provided in th ehome, hospital, long-term care facility, or anywhere else, hospice is a compassionate way to deliver care and supportive services to terminally ill patients. And, it is provided on the basis of need, not the ability to pay.
But while hospice is a very important and meaningful type of care, it is significantly underutilized, and largely misunderstood. So, in 1995, we set out to change that…to help more people access hospice and help more people experience a better way. That’s why we developed one-of-a-kind programs like The Ultimate Gift, the Watch Program, and alternative therapies like pet, aroma and music. Programs that help patients, families, caregivers, and health care professionals take comfort. Programs that create legacies, fulfill dreams, support communities, inspire smiles, and instill confidence. At Crossroads, our approach is completely holistic and our team is 100% dedicated to giving you more.

When Chaplain Bonnie Bohn, in Cincinnati, Ohio, asked Herbert Burns what he wanted for his 100th birthday, his answer was surprisingly daring for a 99-year-old. He wanted to ride an Indian motorcycle. Something he had dreamed of doing as a young boy, but couldnt because it would scare the animals on his familys farm. Well, life went on, and for one reason or another, Herbert never got his Indian motorcycle.
It was time for the Crossroads team of Bonnie, Kristy Demery and Martha Epling to get busy locating this difficult-to-find brand of motorcyclewhich turned out to be somewhat miraculous. You see, Indian had gone out of business, but Kerry Ford, a nearby car dealership, had two of Herberts dream bikes on their lot. The dealership agreed to help Crossroads fulfill Herberts wishes with a whopping $30,000 fully chromed and accessorized Indian motorcycle. Not only that, they had a special leather jacket made for him with the Indian insignia on the back. Talk about cool!
Then, on the day of Herberts 100th birthday celebration, it all came together. Representatives from the dealership, his wife of 70 years, students from his 60-year teaching career, and the Crossroads staff had the pleasure of watching Herberts face as they rolled the bike toward him. Bonnie and Kristy helped Mr. Burns onto the bikeand then he began to ride, and ride, and ride. Herbert had the time of his life, and an 8 x 10 photo to proudly display on his bureau. That way, Herbert could relive those moments over and over again.
