When life becomes uncertain and difficulties or changes occur, we want to be where we feel most comfortable and secure.  for most of us that means being in our home.  Comprehensive Home Care strives to provide the home care services that improve the quality of you or your loved one’s lives.

We work hard to be the most comprehensive home care agency in Charlotte.   This means thinking outside of the box in order to provide assistance in any situation that arises and allow you to have fewer worries, just as we do for our own family members.  Therefore, in addition to providing traditional home care services; such as hourly, short term and long term personal care, companionship, respite care or assisting you with transportation and errands, that we take home care services a step further. We also provide cleaning services; pet and plant care and are able to coordinate lawn care services and other light maintenance around your home.  Our agency also provides services to individuals who reside in an assisted living or nursing facility.

Our caregivers are experienced, compassionate and dependable Certified Nursing Assistants who strive to provide clients with loving home care services and assistance. All of our caregivers are thoroughly screened, and our agency is bonded and insured so you can trust you are getting the best possible assistance and provide peace of mind to one’s family.

The reason we do what we do…

Reaching a decision about home care can be a very stressful and difficult time in life.  It is a time when independence feels threatened and emotions can run high.  The concern of trying to do the right thing to make sure your loved one is safe and well cared for can be overwhelming.  We know this first hand, which is why we chose to open our Charlotte home care agency.

When our Grandfather Hughes’s health began to fail and the stress of caring for him began to take a toll on our Grandmother’s health,  we knew that we needed to find help. Finding the right fit was much more difficult than we imagined.  When you hire professionals in the home care industry; you assume and expect to receive professional services.  As we found out, this is often not the reality.  We found that agencies abused the trust we had placed with them to do the right thing for our Granddad.  Not because they or their caregivers were mean or heartless, more that they never took the time to develop a relationship with our grandparents so that they would understand not only what home care services were needed but the demeanor needed when going into our Grandparent’s home to provide home care services.  Because we have had our own difficulties with home care agencies that we felt viewed our Grandfather as a case not a person, we approach this business in a different way than other home care agencies.  When we begin working with clients and their families we feel that it is a beginning of a relationship, one that we nurture, so that we may truly understand and know the people we are working with.  We also feel that it is a great privilege to be given the trust that we are given by our families, allowing us into their lives and homes, it’s a great responsibility and we take it very seriously.

Relationships – We are a family run home care agency and our relationships with one another are incredibly important to us.  It is not always easy to juggle familial roles with work roles but we have learned communication is the key to success.
When we serve a client and their families we apply the same logic.  We adopt our home care clients into our family and want to build a strong relationship with each and every one of them based on effective communication and respect.  We ask a lot of questions so that we can fully understand each client’s needs and wants and fulfill them with the best possible care in the best possible way for both the client and his or her family.

Respect – The basis for every good and effective relationship is respect.  When entrusted with someone’s care we make sure that he or she is treated with dignity and respect.  Respect for the role we have been given in our clients lives is  very important to all of us at Comprehensive Home Care.  We work hard to earn and maintain our clients respect and trust.

Resolve – We resolve daily to provide the best home care in the Charlotte Metro area.  We have worked hard to recruit the best certified Nursing Assistants in the Charlotte home care industry.  Our home care givers hard work and dedication to their clients is evidenced by the strength of the relationships they build with one another.

Our Caregivers

Comprehensive Home Care is the ideal solution for elderly or disabled individuals who want to maintain their independence and dignity by continuing to live in the comfort of their own homes.  Our caregivers are wonderful, dedicated Certified Nursing Assistants with a variety home care experience.  All have undergone background checks, reference checks, DMV checks and complete a curriculum before beginning work.  Our caregivers also continue their education throughout the year.

There are various terms associated with caregivers in the home care industry, usually this has to do with their level of education.  A Home Aide or Companion is not required to have certification do to the duties associated with those caregiver roles, usually only a Personal Care Aide is required to be a Certified Nursing Assistant.  At Comprehensive Home Care all of our caregivers are Certified Nursing Assistants in good standing with the North Carolina Board of Nursing.

At Comprehensive Home Care the terms we use are Companion Aide and Personal Care Aide.  The following is a basic outline of what these roles are and the basic services associated with each role.

A Companion Aide provides help for the home care chores you can no longer do for yourself.  A Companion Aide will help with chores such as:

• provide hygiene assistance
• provide respite for family caregivers
• supervise ambulation and help prevent falls
• medication reminders
• assist in choosing appropriate clothing
• dust
• vacuum
• clean the bathroom
• change linens
• do laundry
• clean the kitchen
• prepare  and serve meals according to dietary restrictions
• assist/prepare shopping & to do lists
• shop and run errands
• help with correspondence to family and friends
• provide socialization and support for the client
• go on walks; encourage and participate in physically stimulating activities according to the clients ability
• provide conversation directed at stimulating awareness through discussion of current and family events
• remind client of appointments and maintain calendars, remind of birthdays and special events
• facilitate socialization through meeting with friends, escorting clients to organizations or events
• plant care
• pet care
• provide socialization and support for the client

A Personal Care Aide does all of the above but is also able to assist with additional activities such as:

• bathing and grooming
• dressing, morning and evening personal duties,
• assist clients in getting in and out of shower,
• help with incontinence
• assist in walking and balancing
• provide Alzheimer’s care
• remind client of medication times
• remind  client of and arrange appointments

Ultimately, these are just examples of home care services that are provided.  Your or your loved ones home care plan will be one we develop with you to specifically meet your home care wants and needs.

Adult Services

Our home care services range from those of basic personal care services to more involved services assisting and transporting clients in their social activities, travel activities and educational pursuits.  Each home care plan is created on an individual basis with the client and his or her family.  We provide Adult Home Care Services for seniors, adults with developmental disabilities, physical challenges or brain injuries.  Each home care plan is different based on individuals needs but our goal with every client is to support and encourage the pursuit of a safe, full, happy and comfortable life for both the client and his or her family.

Comprehensive Home Care accepts the following types of payment; Self Pay, Long Term Care Insurance, VA Benefits, Medicaid, and CAP.  If a client is eligible for VA, Medicaid or CAP home services we can assist in the completion of the appropriate paperwork. Our Certified Nursing Assistants

Personal Care Services
Our personal care services are home care services that are considered to be “hands on” care, these home care services are provided by CNA’s.  We provide assistance with bathing, grooming, haircare, bathroom care, ambulation, cooking, feeding as well as laundry and cleaning for you or your loved one.

Companion Care
Companion Care is a home care service performed by a Certified Nursing Assistant that ensures the safety of you or your loved one and assists with assorted household duties such as cleaning, cooking and laundry as well as errands and transportation.

Alzheimer’s Care
Our Certified Nursing Assistants have received training in dementia and Alzheimer’s disease to be better able to care for our clients suffering from these illnesses.  This home care services varies, some clients need personal care services others need assistance and companionship to keep them safe.  Our aides work with cuing the clients that are able to do for themselves but are sometimes confused as to what action is appropriate.

Respite Care
Our Respite Care home care services are available to make your life easier.   Flexibility is important and we are prepared to provide services within 24 hours of your call if need be.  We also understand that this may be a home care service you need once a month or as often a couple times a week.  We make the plan that works for you and your  family.  We also will provide 24 hour and weekend respite home care services.  Additionally, if you need assistance with your loved one while traveling we are able to help you on vacation so you have the time to relax without having to provide constant care.

Shopping Service
We provide shopping and errand services  as part as our home care services.  You make the list and we will do the running!

Childrens Services

Through our childrens home care services we offer personal care services, attendant services and respite services.  We have recently added babysitting, childcare and Nanny services to our home care services, please click the highlighted link to learn more about these services.  Our caregivers are very good at providing guidance so that our clients are able to maintain the skills that they have gained and are there to support them in the needs that they are unable to fulfill for themselves.

Our caregivers are Certified Nursing Assistants. All are licensed and bonded, have undergone background checks and annual health screens.  Additionally they have certifications in bloodborne pathogens,infectious diseases, maintaining a sanitary environment, as well as continuing ongoing education.  Additionally, the caregiver providing home care services for your child will be a loving, caring individual who will strive work with you to enrich your child’s life.

Concierge Services

Our Concierge home care services are just that, a full service approach to home care.  You set the criteria and we will fill your needs and wishes.  In addition to providing personal and home care services, we also provide the services of a personnel assistant.  Sometimes keeping up with correspondence and appointments, organizing services or activities becomes stressful and tiring, we can take care of those duties in addition to any home care needs you or a loved one may have.  Coordinating communication amongst the appropriate family members and medical providers, keeping up with your calendar – whether appointments or social events, creating your favorite meals or taking care of and coordinating other home maintenance services such as heavy cleaning and lawn care are just a small part of what we will help you with.
