Cecil Pines celebrates an illustrious past. Until May 2000, Cecil Field was a Naval air station and many of the original buildings were home to military officers and their families.

Once a bustling Naval air station, the furthest thing on residents’ minds Cecil Pines today is the shriek of loud Navy jets launching off Cecil’s runways down the road. Instead, residents have carved out a rustic, quiet niche among the pines, serene lake and miles of walking paths that make Cecil Pines a retirement community like no other in the area. The fully remodeled housing and redesigned landscape have transformed the former base into a charming small town neighborhood for retirement living.

We are a vibrant community of outgoing adults who enjoy spending an afternoon with friends and taking part in the day’s simple pleasures. Some of our residents prefer to stroll our park-like campus and nearby lake, attend an exercise class or just sit back on their patio and watch the colorful wildlife wander by including wild turkey, deer and fox. Others like to embrace a more adventurous lifestyle. Residents Matt and Diana DeLuca work full-time and enjoy spending their weekends riding the rural roads around Jacksonville on Matt’s motorcycle.Residents Dalton and Kirsten Fee like to venture even further afield, hitting the road in their RV to explore Florida’s wonderfully scenic nooks and crannies.

Make A Difference

A community like Cecil Pines is as warm and intimate as it is because of the genuine attitude of caring that each resident shares. The people here care not just for each other, but about each other and the surrounding community as a whole. And they like to show it. Virgil Pacetti spearheaded our effort to participate in Jacksonville's 'Adopt-A-Mile' beautification campaign. Cecil Pines has adopted one mile of the road surrounding our community and we are responsible for keeping it clean. Each month, we go on a 'treasure hunt' to keep the area looking beautiful.

On campus, longstanding resident Dot Roe is well known in our community as the 'Cake Lady.' She has a special way of welcoming each new resident when they arrive at our community... by personally delivering one of her mouth-watering pound cakes. You'll also see Dot on her bicycle delivering cakes and often complete meals to people in the community who are feeling under the weather or just need a friend's smile. Some residents may not remember her real name, but everyone always remembers Dot's special treats and the care and compassion of the 'Cake Lady.'

Many of our residents enjoy expressing their creative side. Chuck Hamm is one of Cecil Pines' most talented musicians being well versed in the accordion, mandolin, banjo and keyboard. Chuck is always willing to entertain his fellow neighbors with his special musical talent.

Unlike most senior communities, Cecil Pines offers single-family and duplex homes rather than apartments. We have spacious 1200-1500 square foot accommodations, and all are single story. Even with these desirable living spaces, our rates rival those of many apartment communities. Both of our floor plans come with full kitchens, sun rooms, carports and private patios, not to mention maintenance services and other amenities. Whatever your style, they all await your personal touches.
