Bayview offers the convenience, amenities and safety of a retirement community combined with the freedom of living in one’s own home. Our goal is to help residents remain independent and active as long as possible, while offering a range of services and support to meet the challenges and joy of senior living in Seattle.

Overview/History/Mission

Grounded in caring

Bayview was founded in 1961 to care for the elderly residents of Seattle's Queen Anne neighborhood and beyond. Early Seattleite Charles A. Kinnear bequeathed his family's historic property to the First United Methodist Church for the care of older adults or children. The Methodist Church worked with the community to create a ten-story residential facility, which was augmented in 1995 by a Wellness Center, Rehabilitation and Health Center, and Intergenerational Childcare Center. Today, Bayview Retirement Community is an independent not-for-profit organization, managed by a volunteer Board of Trustees. It maintains its affiliation with the Methodist Church, while embracing residents from many different faith traditions.

Bayview is home to more than 210 residents who value independence, friendship, healthy living and quality care. Bayview offers the convenience, amenities and safety of a retirement community combined with the freedom of living in one's own home. Its goal is to help residents remain independent and active as long as possible, while offering a range of services and support the experience of aging in a joyous productive manner.

Independent Living

Located at the base of Queen Anne Hill, Bayview provides easy access to shopping, entertainment, bus lines, and activities. Our location lends itself to an active and independent lifestyle. Residents also enjoy our onsite Wellness Center and have the opportunity to participate in group wellness classes or receive individual fitness training. Many of our apartments and community areas offer sweeping views of Seattle and Elliott Bay.

All of this is offered with the peace of mind of living in a continuing care retirement community.

Assisted Living

Assisted Living provides our residents with additional, personalized services by a professional nursing staff. Licensed staff is available 24-hours a day, seven days a week, to attend to residents' personal and health-care needs, including assistance with activities of daily living, medical oversight, medication management, and memory support. A full-time activities staff ensures that there are plenty of opportunities for social interaction and learning opportunities, as well as occasional outings away within the greater Seattle area. Assisted Living residents also have access to our Wellness Center and rehab therapies.

Living with the peace of mind that someone is always available allows Assisted Living residents to enjoy life to its fullest.

Skilled Nursing/Rehabilitation

From the moment you step into the Bayview Health Center, you are welcomed by friendly staff and cheery surroundings. Our high staffing ratios help ensure that residents receive quality care in an enjoyable, homelike environment. Whether you are looking for short-term rehabilitation or long-term care, the Bayview Health Center is a supportive and nurturing community. We offer the following:

• Excellent skilled nursing staff 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
• Medicare and Medicaid certified
• Most major insurances accepted
• In-house physical and occupational therapies
• Individualized nursing rehabilitation programs
• On-site dental, podiatry, audiology and optometry services
• Diagnostic services, including laboratory and radiology
• Personal nutritional services
• Wound care, restorative therapy, post-surgical treatment, hospice, respite and custodial care.

Dining

At Bayview we understand how essential good food is to a healthy and happy lifestyle. Our restaurant style dining room serves three nutritious meals each day. In addition to our entrees, we offer a full gourmet salad bar with themed salads each day and two homemade soups. Our dining room is open from 7:00am - 10:30am for Breakfast, 11:00am - 2:30pm for Lunch and 4:30pm - 6:30pm for Dinner. Sunday dining schedules do vary. Come join us for a meal - we know you will enjoy our food.
