About Us
At Amedisys, we focus on delivering the health care that’s best for you, whether that is home-based care focused on empowering you to manage a chronic disease, palliative care if you have a terminal illness, or hospice care at the end of life. Our experienced, friendly clinicians deliver personalized health care services to patients and families in their homes, with approximately 10 million patient care and education encounters per year.

Amedisys is a leading home health and hospice care company focused on bringing home the continuum of care. We deliver personalized health care services to patients and their families in the comfort of patients’ homes.
Our Philosophy
Taking care of your loved ones as we would our own – that is the philosophy Amedisys was built on. This simple concept, coupled with our core beliefs, has guided Amedisys’ growth in becoming one of the nation’s leading health care companies focused on bringing home the continuum of care.
Our Commitment
Amedisys embodies the heart, mind and soul of health care, including the way we contribute to society at large and the communities we serve. As an organization whose business it is to take care of people, we believe strongly in the power of community service and contributing to medical science to provide better care of our aging population for generations to come.
Our Recognitions
When you do good work, people notice. Over the years, the level of care Amedisys has provided patients and their families has been acknowledged in the form of awards, honors and other types of recognition. We are happy to share them with you here, as they represent the high standards we work to maintain.
Home Health Care
Whether you are recovering from surgery or illness, or living with a chronic disease like diabetes or COPD, Amedisys Home Health Care can make hospital visits shorter and less frequent with home-based skilled nursing, rehabilitation, and chronic disease management. We work closely with your physician to coordinate all aspects of your care, focusing on helping you recover and regain your independence.

Skilled Nursing
Skilled nursing is provided by a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse and includes coordinating the plan of care your physician has prescribed, monitoring vital signs, giving injections, and providing wound care, among other things.
Home Health Aides
Home health aides don’t have nursing licenses, but they support your nurse by providing assistance with bathing, dressing and other personal care. Medicare and private insurance policies don’t usually cover home health aide service unless you are also receiving skilled nursing.
Rehab Specialty Programs
A doctor will create a plan of care based on a patient’s specific needs. Amedisys’ highly trained and certified physical, occupational and speech therapists help patients meet their goals and live more independent and productive lives.
Physical Therapy
The goal of physical therapy is to help you regain movement and strength. Our physical therapists will visit you in your home to help you perform daily activities and progress towards your physical goals.
Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapy is designed to help you regain your independence by performing daily activities by yourself. You may learn new ways to eat, put on clothes or comb your hair. Occupational therapy is sometimes ordered by a doctor without other skilled care.
Speech Therapy
After a stroke or accident, speech therapy can help you regain and strengthen your speech skills through exercise and training.
Medical Social Workers
We know physical issues aren’t your only concern when recovering from or managing an illness. Medical Social Workers visit your home to help you with the social and emotional concerns that may accompany your health care issues.
Selecting the Right Home Care Agency
- How long has the agency been serving the community?
- Is the agency certified by Medicare?
- Is the agency licensed by the state?
- Does the agency assign supervisors to oversee the quality of care patients are receiving in their homes?
- What procedures are in place to handle emergencies? Are the agency caregivers available 24 hours a day, seven days a week?
